The sun is setting as a blue heron glides across the back bay to parts unknown. The clear sky promises a cold night, maybe even a frost. The setting for this painting is based on an area of the Stillwater Reservoir in New York's Adirondack Park. Herons abound in this area, especially in fall when water levels drop.
